31 Acts of Kindness – Part 4 – The Final 9

I have FINALLY completed all 31 Acts of Kindness in memory of Chaz for his 31st birthday! And I feel so good about it! I found this quote from Booker T. Washington that totally fits with what I have been doing over the past few weeks. What he said is so true!  Performing these acts of kindness definitely raised my spirits during an incredibly difficult time.  It gave me something to focus on and work towards.  And it has really inspired me to continue on this journey of kindness. Well, if you missed the first 3 posts of my 31 … Continue reading

31 Acts of Kindness – Part 3 – 5 More!

As I described in my first post in this 31 Acts of Kindness series, I am coping with Chaz’s 31st birthday by CREATING happiness.  My goal was to complete all 31 acts in just 1 week, but it is taking me a little longer than that… I think I am now into my 2nd week of working on this. But I’m OK with that because I am still working on accomplishing all 31!! 🙂 You can check out what I’ve done so far in the following posts: Part 1 – The First 5 Part 2 – The Next 12 And … Continue reading

31 Acts of Kindness – Part 2 – The Next 12

Like I described in my first post of the series, I am doing 31 Acts of Kindness in memory of Chaz for his 31st birthday.  Because 31 acts would create a lengthy post, I have split them up into a series.  This is the second post in my 31 Acts of Kindness Series. You can click here to check out Part 1 – The First 5 acts. Here are Acts of Kindness #6 through #17: 6)  I anonymously brought in cookies for my co-workers.  I just set them in a public area, and people were able to grab them as … Continue reading

31 Acts of Kindness – Part 1 – The First 5

After losing a loved one, EVERY holiday is hard.  At least, it is for me. Even those that seem really insignificant, like Sweetest Day, still bring on a fresh new wave of sadness. But I have made it through each new holiday.  Some with A LOT more tears than others.  Both Christmas and Will’s birthday all ended with me literally laying in the middle of the kitchen bawling my eyes out.  But at least I made it through… Now, the next REALLY difficult holiday is coming up. Chaz’s birthday. He should be turning 31 on July 3… I can’t even … Continue reading

Acts of Kindness – Donation to Women in Transition Center

"Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world." - Howard Zinn Quote - www.MePlus3Today.com

*Post contains affiliate links. Read disclaimer here. Since Chaz died, the kids and I have been surrounded by so many kind and generous people. I never realized just how many lives both Chaz and I had touched before his death. I’m sure he had no idea either. We’ve had help from our family and friends, of course. But then there was Chaz’s current co-workers, his co-workers from a previous job, college classmates, my co-workers, our daycare center, and our neighbors. There was even a local church, that neither Chaz nor myself were affiliated with, that threw a MAJOR benefit event … Continue reading

My First Mother’s Day as a Young Widow

Mother’s day is quickly approaching.  It’s another first “holiday” I have to endure as a young widow. Just like all the other holidays that have come and gone since Chaz died, I try to just not to think about it… But sometimes I can’t help it.  And I begin to dwell in it. My thoughts for Mothers Day were really pretty selfish.  Basically I was thinking that Chaz wasn’t going to be around to organize the kids to “get” me something.  And it’s not like I wanted “stuff,” but more along the lines of doing some kind of keepsake, like … Continue reading

Acts of Kindness with Toddlers – Rock Messages

Acts of Kindness with Toddlers - Rock Messages - Such a cute and easy idea! www.MePlus3Today.com

I have always been passionate about helping others. It was something both Chaz and I enjoyed. We never specifically planned our Acts of Kindness, but we just tried to always be kind. We would always try to give a little bit to service projects, charities and fundraisers that we heard about, or just give our time to friends, family, and even strangers! I can remember a time before we had kids, when Chaz walked in the door after work a few minutes late. He was just coming in to let me know that he was grabbing a giant flashlight and … Continue reading

Earth Hour 2014 Participant

Did you participate in Earth Hour this year?  I did!!! If you’re not familiar with Earth Hour, I talk about in this post, click here to read all about it! Anyways, as I was saying, I participated in Earth Hour this year.  From 8:30pm to 9:30pm, I turned off all the lights and lit some candles!  I was actually also working on my laptop at that time, so I unplugged it.  I’m not really sure if that was helpful or not though! 🙂 It was kinda fun!  And different!  I almost felt like I was in the “olden days” when … Continue reading

How to Join Earth Hour 2014

Just last week, I was reminding my mom to throw something, maybe a glass jar, into the recycling bin. She said, “You know, you’ve always been that way.” I asked, “What way?” thinking it was about something bad. She replied, “Into recycling and saving the earth. I remember telling my co-workers about things you were doing when you were just a little girl.” Oh… Yeah, it’s true. I have always been passionate about the environment. When I was a little girl, maybe 7 years old, my friends and I had a “Save the Earth” club. We would pick up trash … Continue reading
