Rainy Day Activity – Summer Bucket List

Although the first day of Summer was actually just this past weekend, I’m pretty sure most of us have considered it the summer season for a few weeks now.

In a previous post I explained that I made a Summer Bucket List for the kids and I to work on this year. Anytime we are bored or don’t know what to do, I refer to the list for an activity!

And over the past few weeks, we’ve been slowly checking stuff off the list! It feels good to see what we are accomplishing!

Which brings me to last week. It was stormy and rainy around here and the kids and I were kind of going stir crazy. So I was trying to think of good “rainy day activities” for us.

Looking at our Summer Bucket List, right at the top are: “Dance in the rain” and “Jump in Puddles.”

PERFECT!

I looked out the window and it wasn’t really a downpour out, it was more of just a constant drizzle. And there definitely wasn’t any thunder or lightning (I even checked the local weather online, just to make sure there were no storms headed our way)! So, I figured this was a great opportunity for us to check those items off the list!

I put on the kids’ raincoats and boots that their grandma gave them, and out we went!

Once we were out, we did more than just dance and jump! We also drew with sidewalk chalk. Isn’t “HAPPY SUMMER!” exactly what you would think when looking at these rainy pictures? 🙂

Will wasn’t sure what to think at first… 🙂
Violet LOVED running around and dancing in the rain!
Charlotte was NOT a fan of the rain at first. She was scared of it and stayed close to the garage. But after a while, she finally got out and had fun jumping in the “puddles.” Well, we didn’t really have any puddles in the driveway to jump in, but they did jump on wet ground! That is basically the same, right? 🙂
It actually took me a while to get a decent picture of Charlotte enjoying herself. While looking through the pics to write this post, I realized there were A LOT of funny ones, so I just had to share the “Many Faces of Charlotte” with you! 🙂

Anyway, we also brought out the buckets and bubbles to play with. Since it was only a drizzle, the buckets didn’t fill up as fast as the kids would have hoped…
We even looked at bugs and some worms on the ground. That’s definitely NOT my favorite thing to do, but I was brave for the kids’ sake! This is Violet and Charlotte scoping out some teeny, tiny, creepy-crawly…
I made sure to get myself in some pictures too! I was pretty surprised that they actually turned out with the kids smiling!
So if you are looking for a Rainy Day Activity, try going outside! Play with toys, blow bubbles, draw with sidewalk chalk, jump, dance, and play. All of those “normal” activities were new and exciting for the kids with rain coming down!
What do you think? Are you going to go out and play in the rain? If you like this idea, pin this post please!

Below is our updated Bucket List so far. We have accomplished more than this, but I just haven’t gotten around to posting those updates yet. So stay tuned! 🙂

Did you make a Summer Bucket List? How much have you gotten done so far? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

And that’s what Me Plus 3 are up to TODAY!

Such happy pictures. Here in the desert when it rains we all go out to play, it's like we have won the lottery when the first drops start falling!

Wow, I never thought of it from the perspective of not seeing a lot of rain! I always here a lot of complaints when it's rainy, but we forget that some areas of the country would love to see it. I wish we could share with you! 🙂

I came across your blog today, and I'm so glad I did! I'm a Mom of 3 little ones and pregnant with identical twin girls due in September. I got goosebumps seeing pictures of your twins playing in the rain because for months we've been calling our twins Violet and Charlotte!!! We absolutely love those names! God bless you and your beautiful little ones!

That's so funny! I had another friend tell me that they knew of twin girls named Violet and Charlotte too! What are the odds?!?! 🙂 Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
